![]() OnyX is a reliable application which provides a clean interface to many tasks that would otherwise require complex commands to be typed using a. OnyX is a multifunction utility that you can use to verify the structure of the system files, to run miscellaneous maintenance and cleaning tasks, to configure parameters in the Finder, Dock, Safari, and some Apple applications, to delete caches, to remove certain problematic folders and files, to rebuild various databases and indexes, and more. The most recent Mac OS X Cleaner Onyx has introduced the following features: Upgraded deletion of software cache. ![]() It was adapted to the latest version of macOS, which is High Sierra. Such configuration will help to toss away a particular amount of items that may be rather cumbersome, preview various logs and crash reports. ![]() Improves compatibility of Braille displays with Mail. Improves VoiceOver navigation when viewing PDF documents in Preview. Improves compatibility with certain third-party USB audio devices. From what I’ve read of the forthcoming 3d upgrade from MH, they’ve written their own driver and are able to get some serious bandwidth out of USB 2.0 with just a few samples added latency atop the inherent bus latency (samples! not milliseconds). The macOS High Sierra 10.13.2 update improves the stability, compatibility and security of your Mac, and is recommended for all users. MH’s 2882 was the first OS X audio interface and will most definitely be the last.Īnd, yes USB has come a long way. Only a matter of time until my Duet 2 isn’t supported. ![]() Though Apogee is ending official support of these products on OS X El Capitan and beyond, we will continue to make the current installer packages available on our website.”Įxactly why I plan to dump Apogee and go back to a Metric Halo interface in the spring. “Ensemble Firewire and Duet Firewire users updating to Mac OS X El Capitan can expect the same performance as with previous OS versions. What is not “future proof” about Firewire? Any Macbook Pro, Apple desktop or self-built Windows desktop is guaranteed to support it.Ībout Apogee you see that Duet Firewire & Ensemble Firewire are not supported for El Capitan. This is why Firewire audio interfaces have historically been better, and more fully featured, than USB. USB3, even with its speed, does not do direct streaming but releases data in packets. Firewire can have 63 devices doing direct data streams of 400 megabytes per second. If I did buy a Rytm (have considered it, but there’s only so many Elektrons I think its healthy to own) I would be buying it well aware of the impending doom of part of its featured functionality, infact I probably wouldn’t use OB at all, for the reasons mentioned above.įirewire is still a better data transfer standard than USB. I think its a cool idea, but I do think there should be a yet to be undisclosed sell by date put on the OB enabled boxes when they ship, being a $1k+ transparent purchase and all. You’d think I’m an OB hater, I’m really not. Sooner or later your computer will simply say no. Same could be said for any soft synth, vst or DAW. They couldn’t give a toss whether your favorite synth keeps chatting to your laptop or not, there’s no profit for Apple or Microsoft in that. favorite Mac applications for managing hard disks are GrandPerspective and Onyx. Its only partially there atm, what makes you think that they’ll be able to keep up with the cross daw, cross platform compatibility as the computer manufacturers bang out OS after OS in an attempt to keep you tied into their native products or force you into buying a new computer. GrandPerspective 3.0.1 still supports macOS 10.9, 10.10, 10.11, 10.12. Sooner or later that functionality will go. Rytm and A4 don’t RELY on computers, but a lot of people been buying them on the fact that a major selling point is that they interface with them. Fuck metric halo and their sales pitch of “future proof”. ![]() ^Try applying that statement to Metric Halo interfaces.Īnd good thing Rytm and A4/AK don’t rely on computers.įirewire. ![]()
